Audra+Michael Engagement | Tampa Wedding Engagement

Audra+Michael are to be married June 5, 2010 so we got together to photograph their engagement.  Her family owns strawberry fields and they wanted to take some of the pictures in the fields which were loaded with huge, bright red berries.  Audra was the matron of honor in her cousin’s wedding that I photographed in May ’08.  In fact, Audra is in one of the banner pictures at the top of this blog.  It’s nice to work with a bride that was in the bridal party from a pervious wedding because 1) she thought enough of me and my work to want me to photograph her wedding 2) she will be that much more comfortable in front of my camera and 3) I’m not just a photographer she hired for her wedding, I’m a friend.

Audra+Michael are a really great couple.  We had a lot of fun when they decided that they wanted some of their pictures with her in her Florida t-shirt and he in his Florida State shirt.  Um, yeah, I’ll take a neutral postion,  GO BULLS!  I can’t wait until the wedding!

Rachel+Gordon | Garden Club Wedding in Tampa

Rachel and Gordon were married March 21, 2010 at the Davis Island Garden Club in Tampa.  They live in the Baltimore area and I really was looking forward to seeing them again since we has such a good time during their engagement session.  The original plan was for them to take the water taxi from the Embassy Suites Downtown to the Garden Club which is also on the water.  On this day the weather didn’t completely cooperate so the water taxi was a no-go.

Rachel and Gordon are a neat couple.  She is an FBI field agent but she couldn’t really tell me what she did and I think I’m glad because I sure she could have hurt me.  Gordon has just been selected to do his medical residency at John Hopkins.  He decided to leave a job on Wall Street to go back to medical school.  Of course all this was great ammunition for the best man and matron of honor to use in their toasts.

March 21st is a special day not only because it’s Rachel+Gordon’s wedding day but it was also Gordon’s parents’ wedding anniversary.  I think it’s cool they planned it to be the same day.

Their event was coordinated by Staci Mandikas of Unique Event Design.  Staci is a preferred event planner for the Davis Island Garden Club and did an excellent job, as usual.  Thanks, Staci for your help with everything.  Video was by Jacques from Studios76 and music was provided by DJ extraordinaire James King from Grant Hemond & Associates.

Rachel and Gordon, it was wonderful working with you during your engagement and wedding.  Nancy and I wish the two of you many happy and healthy years together.

Emily+Clay | Lange Farm Wedding Photography

One of the great things about photographing weddings is the wonderful couples and families that I get to meet.  I was initially contacted by Emily’s mom since Emily is finishing school at Auburn. Tese, her mom, and I worked together initially to plan the photography and it was just wonderful working with her.  I met with Emily once before our scheduled engagement session and was immediately drawn in by her gentle nature and friendly smile.  I knew this was going to be a great wedding event at the Lange Farm in Dade City, Florida.

Emily+Clay met while on a mission trip to Africa. In fact, Emily returned to Africa to do God’s work up until just weeks before the wedding!  They told me how they met and a little about themselves during our engagement session in Tampa but it was her grandfather’s introduction and blessing before the ceremony that really told everyone there something about these two.

He described how Clay first met Emily in Africa and how impressed he was that this young lady was there essentially on her own.  I’m sure he didn’t miss her beauty either.   He was also impressed with her total love for God and in doing God’s good work.  Her grandfather went on to tell the guests about a journal that Emily had kept and wrote in since she was a little girl.  It seemed that she wrote a lot in that journal about her future wedding and the man that she would one day marry.  What really stuck in my mind was the entry that she made that “she wanted to marry a man that was more in love with God than in love with her.”  Awesome!  Honestly, I have thought about that many times since the wedding.  Thank you.  Your faith, love of God, and love for each other are an inspiration.

I must thank Stephanie from Stephanie Humphrey Photography for working with me on this day.  Many of the gorgeous photos below are hers and I am looking forward to working with her again and again.

Here is their day in a  slideshow set to music:

Wedding Guest Signature Books-with a Twist | Tampa Wedding Photographer

When a bride calls Jeff Mason Photography inquiring about wedding photography one of the first things I ask her is if they are considering a engagement photo session.  Engagement photo sessions are meant to be fun, relaxed and casual.  It’s a good time to get pictures of the couple just being themselves and showing their love for one another.  Another benefit of the engagement session is that the couple and I get to know each other and they get a chance to become comfortable with me and being in front of my camera.  This is important because on their wedding day, one of the biggest days in their lives, I am going to be right there with them.  After the engagement photo session I’m not just some guy with a camera in their faces, I’m a friend.

One of the most popular products from the engagement session is our Wedding Guest Signature Book.  This book goes beyond the typical guest book.  Not only does it have 20 pages of awesome pictures from the engagement session but I put questions on the pages that prompt the guests to write more than just their names.  Questions such as “When did you know that Rachel and Gordon were in Love”, or “Give us an idea for a date night”.  I have seen some really fun responses from guests.  These are books that the bride and groom can read and get enjoyment from for years to come.

Here is one of the books that I created for Rachel+Gorden who are going to be married on March 21.
